Engine System Failure
Howdy all
Picked up my D4 a week ago, 2011 SDV6 XS 8 speed with 100k miles, FLRSH, overall a nice wagon and my 4th LR. As it's not my first LR, I have realistic expectations regarding reliability and maintenance
I'm posting this more as a reference for others should they encounter similar issues, and the outcome/resolution as it happens.
First issue was restricted performance, along with fault code P1247. Pulled over, cleared the code using a Scanguage and decided to head home, shortly after getting another RP message and this time code P2263 which I cleared.
Once back home, I booked the vehicle into my local indy where it's due to go today.
Last night, I decided to take her out for a spin to see if I could replicate the previous codes. 20 minutes in and this time Engine System Failure message, Special Programs Off - engine cuts out I lose ALL power just before a railway crossing. Jeez.
Once my heart has stopped thumping, I consult my Scanguage and fault code P006A is showing. After several attempts, I manage to start her up and get home. Fuelling problem too perhaps.
Both intake manifolds have been replaced within the last year and the shut off valve to the secondary turbo looks pretty new. Hopefully this is something simple. We'll see. I'll update as I learn more.

Wonder if that's why the previous owner got rid?

Perhaps. I did manage 400 miles trouble free before these issues.

The vane in the secondary turbo is seized.
Now have to decide wether to replace the turbo, or try to free up the seized parts.

Very effective at removing carbon deposits from turbos apparently. Lots of info on it and surely worth a try I think.

So, my Disco has had 2 smoke tests, different secondary shut off valve fitted and tested and a diagnostic turbo test carried out. Over a litre of oil was drained from the intercooler.
New turbo on order, oil drain pipe mod to be done, and whilst the body is off, I'm having the belts done too.
