Croatia is a big place, I go there regularly, always in the winter !!
I have just booked flights to Zagreb for November as I am going to Virovitica for a week, hopefully to shoot some wild Boar.
I have already booked December flights as I am going to Daruvar, hopefully doing the same thing.
Before the divisions when it was all Jugoslavia I spent quite a bit of time in the Summer in a Village called Novigrad not far from Pula.
It was a small fishing village and we were made very welcome.
