Awning lighting
Hi,
Other than the external caravan light, and a couple of battery powered lamps, we don’t have any lighting in our awning. I’ve seen led strip lights...
Anyone got any tips or recommendations please (we are really new to caravanning!)2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

If your up for a DIY project then search on YouTube. There are loads of projects on there for making your own awning lights for a fraction of the cost of shop bought. Just depends on how handy you are with a soldering iron.
Link added to the ones I ended up making.

We went for the Kampa starter kit, dimable via remote must say I'm impressed and you can add onto it with the sabre link kits as posted earlier.
A bit expensive I thought when SWMBO decided to get it but I take it back she managed to talk the local caravan sales into discounting it and it's been a great buy, keep remote in pocket when you go out and turn them on as you return no more fumbling about when you've had a few sherbets trying to find a light and your keys

If you (or anyone reading this) are making your own using generic 12v strips then be aware that with caravan charger on then you could see 14.5 volts and blow them!!
You can knock up a cheap regulator circuit to restrict to 12v at the strip and then all will be hunky..

I slid 40mm white waste pipe onto the awning poles & glued led strips with double sided tape to create my current set up in my awning. It illuminates the 1050 x 300cm awning really well. There are alternative connections to allow for 12v or 240v power source. Cost about £15.

Agreed - we have the daisy chained 3 light Kampa sabre setup and it's fab, running of 12v also as we never use hook-up. Would deffo recommend!
