But they also said they had the same sort of issues with the XC90
And as others have said the same sort of issues with the D3 at launch

Slightly confused as to how long term we are talking about?
All those issues are known and a fix available, if he had it for an extended period then he could have had the software updated weeks ago before his trip to Cornwall.
It sounds more like the start of a long term test, in which case why did LR not make sure he was up to date with the software?
Have to say not seen any of those problems myself, but I have probably cursed myself now!

Will only know once the D5 hits over 20K miles, that won't be for a year 1/2 for many.

it did sound like that!
I think this is the 1st one, with many to come as they hopefully do a long term test
Agree with the teething issues - may all be solved by the time I can afford one (got to try a D4 first )Iggy/Ieuan

let the early adopters do the testing and build feedback into subsequent production - part of the course of a new car launch?

I bought a new BMW (E46) 318 in very early 1999 and was told exactly that by a technician when I had repeated visits back to the dealer with knocking rear suspension and more worryingly brake problems - I guess not a lot has changed

I don't buy all this new car teething troubles, the technology was already in other models before the D5. Should've all been fixed prior to D5 launch.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Was about to say similar J77 the underpinnings are well proven for this car as it in the rest of the lineup, the D3 was a totally new back in the day and very high tech platform with a lot of new tech.
Still like 90% of the car would have loved to have one.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

The cynic in me wonders how that works. We've got engines that have been failing for the last 10 years at least. LR doesn't seem even aware of the problem (well not enough to actually do something useful) never mind changing subsequent production. By the time faults start appearing on the D5 LR will have lost interest and be focussed on the D6.
