Turbo replacement required?
I have a 2006 bTDV6 SE with 62 000 km. Under load and above 130 km/hr a "Engine System Failure" fault occurs. It appears that the fault code is related to fuel pressure. the local dealerships are very cagey about releasing actual details - they seem to like secrets. After updating software and installing a new diesel fuel filter, the nproblem persists. Now I am told that I need a new turbo-charger - at 62000 kms ??? Apparently it's not good to keep your mileage low - the turbocharger doesn't like it when the vehicle is not driven. I believe they don't know what the cause of the problem is and find that changing the turbo solves the problem. Anybody with any proper information ?

You need to find out what the fault codes are first, ideally, then go from there...My D3 Build Thread

Peter welcome to CFT (Club Fooked Turbo) and the site at the same time! Had 2 turbos replaced on D3s at 3yrs/80k kms. They're not LR's most reliable component! One of the reasons I won't buy a D4, they have two to fail!

This is my 2nd Disco 3. Never had a problem before but then again I only had the 1st during the free maintenance period - Sod's law.
The problem is that the local dealership is difficult to communicate with and you struggle to get meaningful information. Thanks anyway. I was hoping that somebody else had had the same situation and could tell me that the turbo just needed cleaning or omething. They want GBP 2500 to fit a new turbo.

Contact Baben and find out when he would be in Capetown he has a fault reader, faultmate, always best to get more info and a scond opinion, before handing your cheque book over to the stealer. And more researce on this forum might help.
