EV Car Hire - Experiences?
Looking to hire a car in Geneva next weekend for 4 days in Morzine.
A Nissan Leaf (or similar - all with snow tyres/chains) EV with Avis came up on the list for no more than similar sized ICE vehicle.
I thought it might be easier parking/driving etc in Geneva itself with an EV but concerned about being able to charge it, especially 'returning full'Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Europcar don't require EVs to come back to Geneva fully charged. Is it Avis policy to require a full charge on return then?I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Couldn't find any detail on it.
Would be helpful if they don't need it full on return and probably a real pain if they do.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Wouldn’t it be a lot less stress just getting a normal car or are you wanting to live on the ragged edge?
Was it definitely Avis? The only BEV I can see on their CH fleet is the Polestar 2.
I know Europcar do ID3 and the near identical Seat Born for around the same price as a Golf. I'd be tempted for our trip in Jan, but our destination is a little further down the Chamonix valley and there's only one decent public charger in the (small) village we go to.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Can't see it now.
Maybe I was mistaken about it being Avis.
Thanks for the very useful info! Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

I thought a BEV would mean I wouldn't get caught out if we were heading into/through central Geneva.
That said, looks like the Swiss are considering the possibility of banning the driving of BEVs if the energy crunch is too severe!

Took a pass on BEV this time and have booked a normal car through Avis...as every other rental company in GVA gets really, really bad reviews.
I used Hertz at GVA previously and they were shocking. Shame as I generally prefer using Hertz.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto
