Any SLROC members on here?
Thats the Suffolk version, not Scotland.
Just been looking at the website, I may join. I am south Essex, but its not that far away. Their off road site looks like maybe good option for me to take the D4 round their more simple tracks so I can get some experience without any damage to the car. Fancy a few green lanes too, depending on possible scratchyness. I may even allow the Mrs to have a try -
Any members on here and would you recommend?MY2012 D4 HSE Nara Bronze with some extra stuff
Yes. That's the real one - Scottish.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I am not personally but know someone who is, they often have an open day in the summer months.
There is a nice country pub round the corner from their off road site so you could always pop up and have a look round and combine it with some good food

Hi Lasertam,
I was briefly a member with my Series 3. The Series 3 is off the road for some time now so I have never renewed, but I did go to an open day and had a chat with their safety advisor.
The advise was that I would not be able to use the D3 as it does not have two recovery points front or rear. The only way you could do it would be to fit a hidden winch mount with two recovery points, or a full on winch bumper. They will not accept any vehicle with a single recovery point on the front or rear.
If you're looking for a bit of experience, I would suggest the local green lanes and a trip to Wildtracks to start with. I get my kicks through 4x4 Response .
The SLROC track is also quite Sandy, and makes for a great grinding paste on anything that moves. It's also high sides so you run the risk of a few scratches, so if you like your paintwork, I wouldn't advise it.

This thing with 2 recovery points starts showing up how small minded these guys are, have they not looked at the very substantial recovery points on the D3/4s either of the recovery points would pull an old landy in half they are not lashing eyes as on a defender, but I bet they would use a kinetic rope now that's dangerousDiscovery 3 HSE 07

Hi LaserTam,
yep, joined up with them around August this year I believe, and did the Tyro CCVT in September at Newbourne with no issues about the recovery points. Nice bunch, so impressed with us having a go in a D4 and what she'd do they put us on the cover of the next club magazine! I'll do some more Tyro with them, and maybe a driving day or two but it's not a huge site and you'd run out of paintwork friendly routes pretty quickly.
Not many greenlanes around here unfortunately, I've got the OS App which gives a few around Rendlesham, circa 10 miles I'd guess, which we had a run around a couple of weeks ago but pretty tame stuff for the most part. Seems like a few more around Thetford / Culford way which I'd like to have a look at sometime soon.Goodyear Duratracs for off road

Nice shot with the Disco on the cover, I have often wondered if there are any suitable lanes around Rendlesham or Sutton Heath.
I quite fancy trying out some green lanes locally but not sure if the wife would be so keen on me taking her Disco perhaps an excuse to but an older Disco for some fun

Lol, you'd be hard pressed to get stuck on the Sutton Heath lanes in a fiesta let alone a D4! And only a very minor risk of bramble rash, I hate that scratchy noise as much as anyone, makes me wince
She'd never know you'd b been down them
Not so sure about the Thetford forest ones but intend to have a look soon, maybe over the Xmas holsGoodyear Duratracs for off road
