Hi to all,
A newbie here - will try my best to be respectful
I have the usual (it would appear through an in-depth perusal of the forum) 10y plus Disco 3 cold-starting issues, and the idea of snapping off recalcitrant glow plugs is scaring me slightly...
So the idea of retro-fitting a Webasto FBH (I have found a Disco 3 example in supposedly 'VGC') appeals, to help with cold starts. Since my Disco was Spanish-registered initially (thence to England, and now to France, where the LHD setup is quite useful ) it doesn't have the FBH as standard.
Hence the question: can I easily (or not so easily!) retrofit a Disco 3 FBH to my Disco 3?
Any and all advice would be marvelous, and if there is a thread on this already I haven't found it...
Cheers to all
Donald

Hi Donald it should straight forward to fit it, the connectors might all ready be there, you just need to check first, also most important is the fiel pump that the FBH uses, this will more than likely be your hardest part.
Connections ? might be there
Fuel Pump for FBH
Coolent hoses
Get it enabled in the Car CCF/ECu's.

Hi Flack,
Thanks for that - will have a gander tomorrow - luckily I have a Land Rover specialist not far away and will give them a call too.
Cheers

Flack, fellow forumers,
Wee update - seller says he has the fuel pump too, so I'm presuming (well, hoping is probably the better word ) that if the connectors are there this might not be too big a job (ha ha!)...
Without being a pain, what should I look for in terms of connectors? (or if there's a link, I'd be delighted).
Thanks again
Donald
Now must sell that 2005 Freelander 1.8 to help finance all this

The only other thing you might not have is the fuel pipe and connectors from the fuel tank to the FBH fuel pump, but again you need to check, if not you would need to aquire these and drop the fuel tank to fit them.
But Like I said you need to look at what your car has fitted or not to work it all out.

Hmm although the bloke who sold me the Disco said 'no webasto' under the bonnet (and in my feeble defense I had no idea where it was, or what it looked like till I discovered this forum), on a 1st look for wiring etc: there it was...
In short, and this is embarrassing but feel free to laugh away, I have a webasto fitted (blush).
No fuse in appropriate lodging tho', and I wonder why?
Will wait for a cold day and see what happens, and in the meantime I'm messaging Bodsy for a remote kit!
Thanks for all and sorry for being an
