Noticed this and he does have a point but telling UK dealers which number plates to use should have been easy pre-launch and, of course, deflecting the blame down the food chain has zero cost to JLR.
FWIW I did follow an Italian registered D5 the other night and it did look better with a white, slimmer plate.
The trouble for JLR dealing with it this way is that it is just plain embarrassing. At least though this is proof that they know there is a problem...2014MY Discovery

If he thinks it's only the size of the number plate that's wrong he's seriously not smelt the coffee yet!

Blimey is one of those meant to be right and the other wrong?
They both look rubbish.
A square rear plate would have looked so much better.
I've had 7 Discoverys and I so want to love this new one, but I just can't...

Perhaps he should walk over the road from Gaydon hq building and tell the new car prep area to fit slim plates to all the new Discovery managers cars.

It's like blaming a bad road surface for a poor riding car. Clearly they know they have a design problem but blaming dealers just further tarnishes the brand in my view.

Given that most D5's will be exported and have all sorts of rear plates the comment hardly holds water

Still selling well though. 4 month wait according to the article. There are more D5 on my road than D3 or 4 now. 67 plate grey example appeared last week.

But is the waiting list coz they're filling up the T5 line with RRSs? It's easy to generate the sought after feeling by restricting supply. Do they still make the FF on that line?

No. My drive is full. Been making a few Velar enquiring though, might be room for one of those soon
