Discovery 4 facelift front parking sensors on d3 |
|
Hi all,
so i decided to finally get my front parking sensors on my D3 (D4 facelifted) wired up and working, i am aware that it needs to be activated, Geoff should be able to sort that out for me, in terms of wiring, the plugs are different, i know you can pay for a loom that costs £135, but i wanted to know if anyone has done it without changing the looms? i was thinking of cutting off the plugs and joining the correct wires together using the wiring diagrams of the D3 and D4?
does anyone think this is possible? or has anyone done it?
thanks!

Looking at the wiring diagrams it looks OK to convert.
Pin numbering is different though, so it's not a case of using pin numbers.
The rear should be fine, match the colours up between the D3 car loom and D4 bumper loom.
The front colours should be matched as follows:
D3 car -> D4 bumper
Brown to Brown (12V supply)
Black to Black (Ground)
Red to Yellow/Orange (LH Outer Signal)
Yellow to Yellow/Slate (LH Inner Signal)
Green to Yellow/Black (RH Inner Signal)
Blue to Yellow/Green (RH Outer Signal) 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

thanks Martin!!!
i compared the wiring diagrams and had come up with exactly what you had, thank you very much for taking the time and effort to reply. i feel a bit more confident that they match to yours.
WIRING DIAGRAM = NEW D4 = OLD D3
FRONT RIGHT OUTER = YELLOW GREEN = BLUE
FRONT RIGHT INNER = YELLOW BLACK = GREEN
FRONT LEFT INNER = YELLOW GREY = YELLOW
FRONT LEFT OUTER = YELLOW ORANGE = RED
thanks again

I wired them up last week and had Geoff activate for me, and they work perfectly! Just came back from Paris this evening, all still seems to be working!
Thanks everyone and a special thanks to Geoff
