Stratstone, Stockton

Just a few words to say how much I appreciated the service I received yesterday from the Stratstone dealership in Stockton when I took my car in to have the suspension geometry/wheel alignment reset and 4 new tyres fitted (see [url http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic12473.html?highlight=).[/url]

I had also asked them to look at the EPB. It has always squealed from time to time but never for very long so i've always put up with it. However, last Saturday, it decided to squeal for at least half of a 120 mile journey, giving us headaches so it needed sorting.

They decided to change the brake shoes and rang me to say that my rear pads had approx 2000 miles left in them so could they change those as well to which I said yes.

When I was taken to collect the car at 3:30 yesterday, I was told that the Technician doing the work had taken it for a road test and had noticed a knocking noise from the front and was trying to find the cause so would I mind waiting. I said of course not (not telling them that it has always made intermittent 'clunking' sounds which I thought was normal as my C5 used to do it too!).

10 mins later, the Technician can to see me to tell me the car was now in for a wash/valet and to apologise for the delay. He then went on to explain that the knocking/clunking noise was down to a loose nut at one end of the front anti-roll bar which they retorqued. He also explained to me the history of the wheel alignment/suspension geometry saga and exactly what they had done to my car - showing me the print out from the equipment they use to set it all up. Finally, he told me what they had done to the EPB and explained that, because they had to dismantle the rear brake calipers to gain access to the EPB shoes, they felt that it was well worthwhile asking my permission to allow them to change the rear brake pads as they would have lasted only another 2000 miles.

Cost to me? £189 each for the tyres Big Cry and £44 for the brake parts. That was it! (though it was enough). Suspension geometry/wheel alignment done under warranty and the rest - no charge!

A big WELL DONE to Stratstone of Stockton Thumbs Up . If only all dealerships were as customer oriented, and all motor technicians as concientious, us motorists would be a much happier bunch.

Yep, I popped in there once out of the blue,
[think it was just pre Stratstone though, but prob the same peeps].
My windscreen wipers wouldn't 'sweep' and needed tightening.
It was no problem, they worked on it promptly while i waited - they even washed it!

Discovery 3 Wheel Alignment and Tyre Wear

I wonder if someone would be able to help me resolve a query.

I've been following the threads on this site (very helpful, thankyou) with respect to uneven tyre wear and have quoted the LA204-008V2 number to my dealer. They agreed to have the alignment checked. I have the test sheet from the specialists that did the check, however, they've not included the Land Rover specification on their report, therefore, I don't know whether my alignment is right or wrong.

My car is fitted with 19" alloys and Wrangler tyres if that influences the settings.

Also, having just read another thread on this site, I am now aware of LA204-009V2 (Dynamic Geometry Setting Mode) and wonder whether this needs to be done too. I'd be grateful if someone could explain this in simple terms and point me in the right direction. Is my uneven tyre wear related?

Thanks in anticipation of your guidance.

Chris
