Is my FBH dead?
I've taken it apart to clean tonight as it's been failing to stay lit lately and have found the bowl thing in pieces. And the white ceramic looking piece has a split down it too

Yep, it is dead.
Only the second time I have seen such a crack. I found the first on Ent’s D4 during a diagnostic strip here at Robbie Towers. I exchanged the ceramic venturi with a spare and all was well.
The other bit just looks like carbon fouling that has accumulated in the fuel cup. Clearly it has had an air leak through the crack for quite some time.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Robbie,
What would cause excessive smoke from a burner? If i’m Going through the rigmarole of taking it all out and to pieces then I would like to order the parts beforehand...
My G4 is chucking out thick white clouds of smoke under the bonnet and all the neighbours think my car is spontaneously combusting on start up!

it!
Out of interest Robbie where did you get the spare part from for Ent's? And thank you for the comprehensive guide, without it I wouldn't have tackled the job in the first place
I seem to recall hearing of new units being sold closer to the £100 mark.........or am I thinking of something else?!

I’ve just double checked the little bowl thing that holds the fuel and it’s broken, those two bits that came out of the fbh are the missing parts. So it’s back to plan A, buy a new fbh

I've seen a second hand FBH off a RRS L320 and the date at the bottom of the label says 2009, 2010, 2011.
The date on my label says 2005, 2006, 2007........will the one I've seen be a direct replacement for mine?

Yes pretty sure it will even RRS, Jag etc units should work...
Plus its easy to switch the board over (Its often the faulty bit on those for sale as the connector above it snaps exposing it)
I bought one and replaced the broken connecter/board with mine as it was the mechanical parts of mine that were fubard...
