Well I’ve done it !
Well after a couple of test drives and deliberating over how to tow my Sankey !
I’ve ordered a D5 HSE Lux in Carpathian grey with a couple of options, park heat. Tracker, privacy glass !
Was worried about the Sankey towing situation but after having a look at the US site it looks like you. Can fit a towbar with the 2 “ NAS hitch which hopefully I can adapt my current NATO hitch to suit.
So didn’t order the towbar but I’ll wait until I get it and work it out from there.
Supposed to be a Dec delivery but will find out for sure in the next week or so.MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎

The tow bar is a new rear cross member, it depends on what tow bar you go for as to what cross bar you get/fit. The old one just unbolts and you bolt the new in place.
Not a great photo but the black bit is the new rear cross bar and the lighter colour is the chassis railsMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Russell are the tow electrics plug similar to that on the D4 ? (Ie plug in then get em enabled )
The info I can find gives two types one that needs another loom in the boot and another that connects to a plug behind the bumper !
Just need to know whether the plug is there at build or you need to buy that as well ?MY18 D5 HSE LUX😎

Hi,
we have just bought a RRS2 and had the multi height tow bar fitted by the dealer
looking at the L/R options available it should have been like this
but when we collected the car the dealer said L/R had changed the type of bar and it was no longer available and had fitted one the looks very similar to the one Wiggs had shown (Westfalia )
It is not going to be an issue for us and it meant I could fit the original rear cover as the one with the bar is Very open
I would get confirmation by picture as well as part number which ever one you go for

Mine was fitted by dealer. But from what I found originally the one with the wiring in the boot is the electrically deployable one. The standard ones are similar to D4's from what I found out.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Nice! Can't believe how quickly they can churn them out.
I thought the NAS type (2" receiver) bars weren't type approved in the UK?
