ok so I now have the lead
have installed Webasto program, but when I plug it in it doesn't come up with any com port selection in the com port box and when I go to Device manager and open properties there is no option for changing ports
I am on windows 10 will this make a difference?
tried following the guide but cant make sense of it
getting frustrated now lol

The wiki page for the diagnostic lead - www.disco3.co.uk/fbhdiag - has a full guide for changing the com port including Windows 10.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Thanks, Martin,
I found all that info but when I follow it I don't have ports com and LPT section and when I click on USB device and open properties there is no option for advanced or ports?

Try plugging your OBD adapter into a different USB port. It has to appear in the device manager list to be recognised by the Webasto software.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I don't know which OBD adapter you have, but that suggests you need to install drivers for it. It also means it's not using the common FT232 or CH340 chip
Any info on the listing you bought the adapter from about drivers?06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Just seen both screenshots - drivers are required which is why it doesn't appear in the software and why you can't change the settings.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Actually it may be the CH340G in which case use the CH340G driver which is given in the setup page I linked to.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
