Fuel Burning Heater woes
Fuel Burning Heater
Help please,
FBH not being recognised by Webasto program
Fuses are OK
appears to be voltage from the power plug to fbh
using a vag connector and a harness bought from the shop
blue wire from harness inserted into 8 pin plug position 5
Webasto Software appears to connect to the vag but i cant get the software to talk to the FBH
Do i need a new FBH or can i service the one in the D3 at the moment
at my wits end
thanks
Roger

You would seriously help others to help you if you bothered listing which vehicle, what year etc.
Presuming it's a Discovery TDV6, you won't speak to the FBH unless you have your K-Bus wire connected to pin 2. Mods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.
Twin Brake Lights.
Wing Mirror Indicator Repeaters.
Long Roof Rails

Your FBH will look like this:
My earlier model D3 looks like this:
You need to put a wire into pin 2, having a wire inserted into pin 5 won't work. My photo shows a red wire in pin 2, you need to do the same. Early models had the red wire installed in pin 2, later models don't have it.
Once you've fitted the command wire, connect your K-Bus ( Pin 7 out of your OBD adaptor ) to pin 2 on the fbh.
Then it'll work.
Follow the "Fitting the control wire" instructions here: https://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/Fuel_Burning_HeaterMods:
Front Fogs + Halos
FBH Remote Control
The 1st Ever RRS Modded Grill
Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.

Er, again, Beaver12 says he has one of my looms, which doesn't require this manual fitting of the pin 2 WBUS wire.
Beaver12, have you had any sign of life from your FBH - attempted start or smoke at all?
Check the 2 pin power connector is fitted, and check the fuse for the FBH (28 in the engine bay):

FBH not working
Hi,
Thanks for the reply's
There has been no sign of life from my FBH i have checked all the connections and they appear secure
12v+ coming out of the power connector.
anything else i can check? i have the store bought harness and presume that no other mods need to be done except blue wire into pin 5
thanks roger

Right, back to the beginning.
Which version of the software are you using?
What is it doing when you say it "won't connect" - any errors/activity at all?
