IID or similar locator map?
Going to be looking at a few D3s in the near future and would love to be able to read the diagnostics codes on them. If/when I buy I'll probably invest in an IID tool or similar but before then would love to borrow/rent time on one just to check things out. In the D2 world we have a locator map for Nanocoms/Hawkeyes that people are happy to help with - anything similar in the D3 world?
Thanks!
A.

The d3 stores so many false fault code it wouldn't help a lot.
I guess you could clear is before test drive and read afterwards

The cost would prohibit this surely £60 per Vin on Gap. I use one personally but I also carry other basic readers to help friends out that are a one off cost.

you don't need a £60 licence to read and clear codes.
£60 for key program, suspension cal, CCF edit

Thanks for the replies.
Re. the false codes, that's indeed an issue, as you say I could clear them and then drive but that might be slightly unfair to anyone else who looked at it, although a D3 with no errors would probably ring even more alarm bells!!
I think the IID doesn't need a VIN licence just to read faults, it's writing stuff that is VIN-locked.

My apologies I have licenses for two Vins on my Gap and tried it on another vehicle this morning and it did read the codes when I figured out how that worked.
Why not just add the details to the Members Map? Allow members to set it in their profile that thy have one they are willing to help others with.Tony

Its going to be quite a large task and like most ideas they need people with lots of spare time to implement them.
You can buy the Icarsoft I930 for 100 quid that will do read all the codes/clear them as per the IID, if you do not buy a D3 the I930 sell quite well on ebay, I lost 10 quid in 12 months
Ref false codees, its std practice on the trucks to plug in, quick read, dump the lot then read again and see whats really there and read again after road test.
It's been mentioned before, it's still on the list to implement
D2 Boys club locator map is kept up to date by one guy using google maps, if you are happy for me to have a sticky thread somewhere similar to the one over there and operate it in a similar way then I have the time to do it and will take on keeping it up to date Pete
