Unable to connect to FBH
So I've been trying to get my FBH to work with my laptop but with no luck. Hoping those familiar with the subject can help out. My car has the red wire attached to pin 2. I've cut this wire and attached it to my VAG KKL OBD adapter, I've also made sure to connect a 12V battery (not the car's battery as it's too far away) to the proper OBD pins. My laptop recognizes the adapter and I've selected the correct COM port and W-Bus device in the Thermo Test tool but it always hangs on "WTT initialisation".
I've tried:
- Connecting battery ground to OBD pins 4 and 5, tried bridging them
- Taking the connector off the FBH and clipping a wire directly to the FBH pin
- Checked the fuses
- Took the power connector off the FBH for a few minutes
None of that helped. The 2-pin FBH power connector measured 0V. Is that normal?2005 Disco 3 TDV6 HSE in Ebony Gray

I'd suggest connecting to the cars battery and a suitable ground not using a different battery, I've not tried this on a D3 but remember on a BMW 7 series that a separate battery (its in the boot on a 7 series) up front didn't work on diagnostics I was carrying out and so had to connect to the cars battery directly.
Might help, might not but worth trying.

RutlandBoy,
To be honest I had no hope for your suggestion but that actually did the trick! Thank you! Now to do this without dragging a laptop and wires out into the cold...2005 Disco 3 TDV6 HSE in Ebony Gray
