Cottages in Lake District
The wife has just told me we are going to a family wedding in early August 2019 at Windermere and she would like to perhaps have a week up there and look at some of the Fell Pony studs up there and in Lancashire. Does anyone have any recommendations for cottages that sleep 6, but probably won't be taking dogs so don't need pet friendly, near a nice pub would be good though.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Have a word with Paul Bannister, Jester on here, he has a farm cottage which he rents out in Windermere This is it but I think they have their own website also
Hi Paul. Father in law has 3 up there now, all in the same location 5 min from Windermere. We no longer manage them so can’t discount, however you can book online.
Main house & cottage can be combined, not sure what he’s calling the recently converted bit.
Not sure if you still have my no, PM a f you want to chat etcPaul.

Cheers Paul, that looks stunning Wifey wants to plan what’s what with the Fell Pony studs and then decide where she wants to stay. So I’ll give you a shout once she’s decided DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

There are other companies that rent cottages in the Lake District.
The reason I say that is that I have been booking cottages for many years with Cumbrian Cottages more or less since they started. Up until 2016 I would happily recommend them.
We booked a property in Keswick that year and it was pretty grotty. I won't go into the details but for the first time I found myself writing a letter of complaint.
It was pretty appalling how CC handled the complaint. They sent me a letter from the owner who had responded to the points we had raised. I thought that was utterly unprofessional. My contract was with CC not the owner.
I asked CC what they were going to do to keep me as a customer. They took this to mean that I wanted a refund which I found somewhat insulting. What I was looking for was some token gesture that, as a long term customer, my custom was valued.
We'll not be booking with them again and will use alternate agencies. I've probably got around 30 years of holidaying left before I'm too old to go self catering. Through their lack of customer service they've probably lost £20-£30k of business.
Anyhow sorry to take this slightly off topic. Companies I've used since that I'd recommend: -
Good luck with your search and hope all goes well for the wedding
