Drivers seat memory & mirrors |
|
Since getting our D3 late last year, I've been doing battle determined to get the mirror memory, reverse mirrors and lazy entry working. So far, I'm not having much luck!
I've just come across a post from a couple of years ago by Simoniz which says:-
Quote:All is not lost so do not dispair .......
You will need to by pass the memory module to be then able to use the seat adjustment controls - they will work in 5 seconds or thereabouts burstsof power which is more than sufficient to adjust the seats and tweak them now & then . You will need to make 2 wiring adjustments under the drivers seat IIRC , I believe I may have photographs but cannot readily find right now to post up.
As for getting the memory module working you will need an additional or more ECU's if as I presume you have a low spec D3 . I am not ware of anyone who has gone that far and been sucessful but I could be corrected on that ......
Will try and post up the wiring mod later if I can find the pictures.
Now, the mention of 5 second bursts has got me thinking as my mirrors do this. If I hold the joystick the mirrors move for a few seconds then stop and I have to let go of the joystick and start again. I'm also getting fault codes via my Nanocom talking about mirror motor feedback. Putting it all together, I'm wondering if I need to get hold of a new memory control unit for the seat/mirrors?
Interestingly, when I first got my Nanocom and did the first fault clear I noticed after re-connecting the battery following a subsequent hard-reset there was a constant relay clicking underneath the driver's seat, near the controls. This went away after the car went to sleep and hasn't come back since.
All this seems to point towards an issue with the memory module - what do others think? Cheers,
Gareth

Now there is a coincidence, as I also had this constant relay clicking underneath the driver's seat or steering wheel. I couldn't quite pinpoint it as I was pressed for time. When I reversed the mirrors did not return to the correct memory position. When I went out the next day to investigate, there was no noise, and the mirrors are all working fine.
So I'm interested in what you find out.
Cheers
John

Hi - I had a prior problem with memory loss - it turned out to be a battery running a little flat and shutting down non-essential functions. I discovered this, however, after I had purchased a replacement memory module from TLO for a little over £100.
I now have this module for sale, if anyone is interested in buying it from me. Previous cars

2nd dibs if the price is right and you guarantee it is working. I have bought 3 from various sources in the past and they have all been duff
OP, this module is the most likely cause of your seats/mirror issue, senile Dementure It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi - I'm happy to take a 50% fine on the price I paid for not checking the obvious...battery.
If, having checked your battery is good, you want to buy a memory seat module then I'll sell it to you!
I need to pull it out of my bottom drawer and find out the details.

It goes where others don't.

I'm sure it is SWMBO who is causing the last one
I'll stick my hand in for last dibbs on the memory module if nothing else works out with others as I'm keen to solve this annoying issue with my mirrors and memory stuff! Cheers,
Gareth
