Caravan Pitch near Falmouth Cornwall

I wonder if i could get some caravan advise.

My Dad is unfortunately very poorly. As he lives 6 hours drive away from me and my sisters near Falmouth in Cornwall, we have decided to get a large old-ish caravan and leave it semi longterm on a pitch nearby to use it as a shared base when we take it in turns visiting him.

Having never had a caravan. Can anyone tell me what i should expect to pay per month for a pitch with water and electricity hook up.
I would think it will be there for 6 months minimum.

Secondly, can anyone recommend a suitable site near Falmouth?

Thirdly, any recommendations for a sub £3k caravan? What to look out for. What to avoid.

Apologies for different questions in one post.

£2000 per year seems very reasonable.
Works out at £167 per month.
Equivalent to 3 nights in a travel lodge??

England

You are looking for somewhere that does Seasonal pitches, as folks like the Caravan Club I think is max 21 days stay in any one period.

Just do a google search for caravan sites near Falmouth.

With regards a sub 3k 'van, damp is likely to be the biggest issue, so whatever you decide to go and look at take a damp meter with you and check everywhere (walls/floor/roof/around windows/anywhere anything joins something else) - apart from that its whatever internal layout works for you.

Have a look on caravanfinder.co.uk - you can search by price/layout/berth.

Ref the van go to local dealers first have a look around so you get an idea of layout etc like previously said damp meter check alround then before finally doing deal get an inspection done so you know what works or doesn't if owner says no to inspection walk away.

I don’t think you will get much for 3k it may have issues that you need to deal with. If you spend 5k and it’s not older than 2000 than you should get most of that back when you sell.
In respect of pitch fees if you go to a CL (certificated location, caravan club) or the equivalent in the camping and caravaning club CS then quite often they will do a seasonal pitch it’s not allowed but some do it. There may be a private site anyway that will do it as well.
In respect of cost a typical fee in Cumbria would be around 1800 -2000 for the year.

Hope this helps

As Al says CC do seaon pitches at some sites where you can site a van for an extended period of time. You can then stay a maximum of 21 days before having to leave for a minimum of 48 hours without returning, you can then return for another 21 days.
Just a thought, has anyone here got a static or caravan in their garden they would be willing to rent out to you, where we live a lot of people hav and rent them out as holiday lets, this may be another way forward
