Pulled the trigger
So i've been looking for a couple of weeks, and yesterday pulled the trigger, take delivery on thursday or friday.
I've bought a 2012 SDV6 HSE 67k miles with a brand new engine just installed. i think i got a good deal on it at 25k from a main JLR dealer as i figure the engine alone is 6k?
will likely be lurking here while i learn what i can do to it to make it 'mine'

I think you will find the new engine is worth quite a bit more than 6k

Deffo costs a lot more but worth a lot more in a used car? It really just puts you back to where you should have been, plus a bit of "betterment". Whether the car is worth £6k more than an identical car on its original engine is debatable.

Doesn’t it have a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty if it has a new LR engine? So, if your position is that the engine can go boom once more, it’s guaranteed to get fixed within that time period no matter what?
I’d imagine that is slightly better than with the old engine where it’s jungle rules and the House always wins..

Yeah i've got a 2 year warranty on it as well so i'm covered, which from what i've seen on here, is worth while. and actually seems to be cheaper than 3rd party ones.
I'm waiting for them to tell me why the original failed as from what i've read, there seems to be 2 main culprits.

more like £16k for engine and you've got a 2 year warranty which is worth a bit if it covers engine as well...enjoy

Yep, scary prices without a warranty. Just be aware that should your crank break and you’re with LR extended warranty that’s what you’re looking at anyway. It doesn’t cover cranks or any other defect Ford & JLR have managed to design in.
PS Just remembered its a new engine (forgot) so enjoy the next 2 years.
