I've vague memories of reading similar thoughts about the "modern" P38 Range Rover. Probably in the letters section of Autocar.
24 years on, I still prefer the design of the Classic Rangie. I'm certain I'll still feel the same about the D3/4 and the D5 long into the future. Each to their own though. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Lets get this right are you saying that the D5 is more difficult to drive than the D3/D4?In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

My other ride is a Fiat Ducato, now that is a commanding driving position.
After a day in that getting in the D4 is like getting in a sports car Discovery 4 HSE

If that's aimed at me, the answer is no.
Are you saying that the D5 has superior all round visibility to the D3/4? It could be because of my height, but I found the A and C pillars on the D5 more visually obstructive in comparison to the D3/4. The rear glass seemed smaller as well, but that might have been an illusion.
Either way, I chose to replace my smashed up MY16 D4 with a used MY16 D4 rather than a new D5. Even with the generous offer from NFU to supply me with a D5 at a discount. Why? Because I'm more comfortable in a D4 and its design suits my current needs better than a D5.
I'm really pleased that the D5 suits your needs etc. In fact I'm even a little envious, as I like to plan in advance what my next vehicle will be. So far I've yet to find a replacement without making quite a few compromises.

The prototype longer wheelbase D5, with revised rear end styling, looks as if visibility is pretty good:

It was like sitting on the top deck of a double decker bus.
