Hybrid model
Anyone know if we might expect a hybrid D5 anytime soon? I understand the updated Disco Sport might appear as a hybrid.2014 D4 HSE Lux

Presumably the rear row of seats would be lost if the D5 was fitted with the current hybrid system. The battery lives in the spot where the seats would be.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Unless of course they went down the XC90 T8 route where the batteries live down the spine of the car.2014 D4 HSE Lux

But there's a chunking great gearbox, transfer box and prop shaft there already so it would have to be a very different system to LR's current system.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Suspect it would be a similar set-up to below ...a mild hybrid and PHEV

Maybe like the T8 the batteries would drive the rear and the engine the front.2014 D4 HSE Lux

Dealer said current PHEV package doesn't work for D5 and will see it using LR's new generation PHEV/Hybrid offerings. Presumably because of the 3rd row and transmission still being required with current setup.
Volvos design is clever and would be a good solution for the D5, maybe PHEV will come with the D5 refresh it must be about that time in 2020-2021?MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Disco with a transverse engine driving the front wheels? And we thought the cries of woe about the D5's number plate were bad!
Seriously, I think having electric drive at the rear makes a lot of sense. If LR are as good at off-roady stuff as they claim, they ought to be able to make such a set up all bar unstoppable. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Agree about the transverse engine. Never thought I’d see a two-wheel drive Land Rover but think you can get one with the Evoque and possibly the Disco Sport. There’ll be flying penguins next.
Yes Land Rover now has a hybrid RR and RRS but I do think they have some catching up to do on the hybrid front.2014 D4 HSE Lux

LR has produced 2wd cars for a long time, started with the eD4 Freelander 2. The DS wasn’t available with 2wd at launch as LR said the e-capability model met the then current emissions with 4wd.
Originally my dealer couldn’t shift the 2wd Fl2s so used them as loan cars.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

JLR seem way behind with regards EV for Land Rovers or Range Rovers. Cant help wondering they may be hitting the market too late with PHEV or EV cars????
Why they haven't made an Evoque EV using the Jaguar concept is beyond me. Could have been a big seller???
