I have blown a filament in my RH stop lamp globe. I undid the two P/head screws that seem to hold the red taillight in place, but couldn't seem to get it off the car. Needless to say I didn't try too hard, as I didn't want to be looking at a cracked outfit.
If I ask my stealer to fit this, can you imagine? (Sorry sir, no warranty on electrics, - by the way to fit these we have to drop the gearbox, remove three wheels and the globes only come from the old country and are $75.00 each). Oh dear, perhaps I am too cynical, or maybe been around too long.
Can anyone enlighten me? (On the tailight removal of course!!). 2006 HSE TDV6 Bonatti Grey, ECB bull bar, tropical roof, LG Next G car kit, Tom Tom GPS, UHF, Mitchell Bros tow bar, Kimberley Kamper Limited Edition camper trailer and 23 foot Haines Signature half cabin (Towed separately!)

In the spirit of the internet, I'll go ahead and put in my 2c worth without actually knowing the correct answer.
I'd be guessing the access to the brake light globes is from inside the car. Look around the side panels by the tailgate for a panel that opens/comes off. Hope that helps!
Disregard. After having a look, there's no access from inside.

AS Cat Weasel has said, pull it harder (lift and pull from the bottom) it is held by two pop fasteners.

Use a plastic kitchen spatula between the plastic light unit and the rear quarter panel and it will come of. Mine have been off a few times now and they do get easyer. Hi Pbob, my left hand brake light went out about 18months in and seeing as the car was booked in for service, I took it in and my dealer changed it for nothing... Thats right no charge hidden or otherwise. What's wrong with expecting electrics to be covered under warranty?
(Note however.. they were quite happy to charge $220 for a wheel alignment) What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

To help with the frequent blub changing exercise go and buy 4 off LED replacement lights which might cost you $40 for 2 pair but you will always know they are working. I found these LED's at Autobarn and hey just plug in the same as the original ones.
I saw a D3 the other day without any brake lights working. Just the high mount operated.

Get some LEDs - they look cool and last - I have just replaced every light in the car (apart from the xenons and indicators) - and IMHO it looks fantastic

When I changed a brake globe recently, I discovered that the left one was a lot brighter than the other.

OK, PCH.
Spill the beans!
Which LEDs from Autobarn?
I am aware of the LEDs from the UK but why get those if someone local can supply, eh? regards
Peter

Lamps, braking components lubricants, coolant, screenwash and fuel are all consumables - can't see the problem with paying 1/100th of a tank of fuel (at UK prices ) for a replacement brake lamp every 10 - 15k or so..... my first brake lamp replacement was at 32k although auto's may be earlier
