| Noise from ABS pump at 10MPH - initialising? |

I've had a poke around some old threads, but couldn't really find an answer to this. I find that just after starting the car, when it gets to around 10 MPH there is a noise from the ABS pump - just a brief grinding noise as if the traction control was kicking in. Something tells me this is normal and it's some kind of initialisation of the ABS system?
Also, since having work done on the OSR brake after it stuck on a couple of months ago, I frequently get in the car and the brake pedal is rock hard - to the point I worry that I won't be able to depress it enough to start the vehicle (but thankfully it does). I should point out that this can happen at random, either on a cold start, or literally if you've gone into the shop for 2 minutes and come back, it can be stiff then.
Combine the above with my ongoing suspension issues and now the fact my rotary gear selector is refusing to lift, it's proving to be a great day out! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
