My local independent just did a 32k service on my D4 and I noticed I wasn't charged for a fuel filter. When I chased this up he told me his supplier told him it didn't need changed as it was a "lifetime" filter. However, it appears as a service replace item on Land Rover's OSH download.
"Lifetime" sounds stupid to both of us as there could be a lot of muck in one tank of fuel, never mind thousands. Anyone else fond this situation and can provide an answer?
Perhaps it is a cleanable filter now, like the principle of glass bowl sedimenter on the Series Land Rovers last century? A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Finally today the fuel filter was changed after three false starts due to wrong part being sent or nothing sent at all. Genuine Land Rover printing on side.
I can see why a parts department monkey could think it was a "lifetime" fit. It looks just like an oil filter!
