Genuine Land Rover bulbs
Hi all, first post but as you can see from my join date I'm a serial lurker...
Am getting the Christmas lights HDC fault on my dash, but I know the MOT guy swapped out a bulb last week. So before I start looking at wheel sensors, brake switches, alternators and the litany of other parts whose failure all seem to result in the same HDC issue, I thought I should swap the bulb he replaced for a 'genuine' Land Rover bulb. My question is, does anyone know who makes the 'genuine' LR bulbs, so i don't have to trek all the way to the main dealer - I'm assuming it's not LR themselves - or know what bulbs are acceptable to my tempremental beast?
Many thanks in advance.
Chris

Is the bulb they swapped out working? Usually you get the Chrimbo Tree if one filament has failed and shorting the other.
And from your lurking days you'll know the next step is to get yer codes read.

whoops, I've just seen I posted this in D4, should have been D3. First post fail
Thanks for the reply DSL - yes, the lights are all working fine. I have one of those cheapo OBD2 readers so plugged it in and I was surprised that it actually worked and read some fault codes, though obviously no guarantee it's caught them all. There were a few U codes and a few CA codes too, when I googled them they all seemed to be electrical faults. I will take it to the LR specialist I use up the road to take a look but just thought maybe I should change the bulb first, in case it really is that simple (please be that simple)

Suppose worth a try for the few pence a bulb will cost. No idea who LR use but I got RING stop/tail bulbs from my dealer many, many years ago. Used a couple with no problems.

One of the bulbs in SWMBO's Evoque went a few years ago. Off to Halfords for a replacement - all done and working fine. A few weeks later, same again. Back to Halfords for another. Same thing happened again and, as the car was going to the dealer for its service, got them to check out the fittings as there was clearly an electrical fault (anyone who has read any of my posts before will know that my car knowledge is limited to fuel and topping up the washers, so will appreciate that pride, yet again, came before a fall....).
Dealer checked it out and said there was no problem, but as the bulb wasn't an LR original, I'd need to pay for a replacement LR bulb. Which, had I taken it into the dealer after the first fail, would have been replaced free of charge as part of the warranty.
Moral of the story - make sure you replace parts with the same part, rather than a part which kind of fits the bill.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
2012 - FL2 2009 GS Stornoway Grey
2001 - VW Passat Estate Inky Blue
1999 - Ford Mondeo Light Blue
1998 - Rover 25 Red
