Some drivers should not be allowed in a car... |
|
Spent the weekend in London for Trooping the Colour.
Stopped off in Osterley House and Gardens National Trust. Lovely place. Had a nice quiet sit down, read, Help daughters climb tree's...relaxed.
Got back to car, and the adjacent car was pulling away, so stopped to let him past. Watched as he drove his bumper along the length of my rear bumper...
I stopped him , and said you just hit that car. His reply, ....that's ok..
Said, 'No it's not, because that is my car'...
I'm sure i didn't hit it.....
His bumper was pushed right in, and deformed as it was going along mine.
It was one of those moments, when you can't believe what you are seeing, to do anything about it..
He got a £10 note out of his pocket, and said 'Is that ok....'
Details exchanged eventually. Numerous pictures...
End of relaxing day. Just 120 mile drive home then..

Lucky you caught him in the act, the number of times I've come back to see the results but without a culprit to vent on!! -------------------------------------------------------------------

Always park in off-road if you've got side steps - more chance of the insensitive b ds damaging their own cars instead of yours.

Would suggest you only park in London or anywhere else in access mode unless you have one of Uncle Rays protectors or you will be looking at an empty hole where the spare used to be! Must stop buying shiny toys....

I think its an essential for the car along with an IID, a b**dy good toolkit, understanding other half and the ability to buy expensive parts whenever the car feels bored! Must stop buying shiny toys....

Contacted insurance company last night to sort this.
they checked owners details. He is fully comp. Took a while on the phone.
Within 1/2 hour, had a phone call from Accident Exchange to sort things out. I get a hire car equivalent to the D4. Not sure what yet. Provisionally booked in for Wednesday next week.
Insured with Sure Thing.
Co-Plus dealing with it.
Accident Exchange sorting repair and hire vehicle.
What's the bet, I turn up and they give me a Nissan micra... MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Don't hold much hope of an equivalent as when my work van got hit I got a brand new Corsa SXI
When I explained what would be going in it they didn't seem concerned my reply is don't expect it back in the same condition then.
I was with Tesco at the time I think

Daftlad's post reminds me of a lady Landy driver who was given a Peugeot 106 (or similar) as a replacement whilst her Deafner was being repaired.
There were plenty of photos of her feeding her flock of sheep with the hay bales that she'd transported to the middle of the field in the Peugeot....

Similar happened to swmbo's car on Saturday. We were exhibiting at the school fete. At the end she went and got the car only to find someone had reversed into it
Fortunately she had left her details and we made contact. She doesn't want to go through insurance which is fair enough however the local ford dealer quoted yesterday …………….. £4500!! Its only on a 1 yr old fiesta. Its done a rear door, sill, small dent on front door and probably will end up painting 3/4 of the side!!
Me thinks she will go with insurance now although we've sent her the quote and not heard anything!! Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

Accident exchange already contacted me, and are coming out tomorrow to view damage and get the quote/parts details together.
Going a bit quick. I doubt the other party has even been contacted properly yet!!! MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Swmbo has just put phone down from the other insurers. As you say it's all happening very quick. Wonder how long before the whiplash companies start ringing!! Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

Just remember to tell the cold callers that several of your party died in the crash but were resuscitated in the ambulance. They usually get that you're stringing them along at that point.
