Front Parking Sensors - working but no sound? |
|
I have a MY10 D4 HSE with front and rear sensors, problem is that the front sensors are working perfectly (no faults found by independent on IID tool) but there is no sound. They switched them all off, front and rear, then turned them all on again and the fronts show up, and react when someone walks in front of the car...but no sound was heard! Rears beep like a good un though.
Any ideas?

pity it's notthe other way round … I know where the rear sounder is (and someone on here did a post on how to replace it.).
No idea where the front one is fitted. .

The independent suggested the sound comes through the stereo... not sure though.

Have you turned the volume up?
The radio volume, sat nav voice, front and rear sensors are all seperatly controlled using the radio volume.
When reverse is engaged try turning up the radio volume button. Same for the front ones.

Cheers - I'll give it a try although it sounds too simple to be the fix

You must be in reverse and near enough to something to cause the sensors to operate while increasing the volume.
Same goes for the satnav - you can have the radio on high volume but while the sat nav is speaking you can adjust its volume without it changing the radio/parking volumes.

either press and hold or double press the audio settings button (can't remember at the mo ) and you get a menu where you can set volumes relative to each other IIR(partially)C

This may be another option:-
Press settings hard button - then choose "System" soft key , followed by "Volume Preset" soft key this give you the choice to alter the Info,Parking Aid, Phone, Navigation

Nope, tried all sorts and still no sound.
I couldn't find any settings (D4 HSE) on the system relating to sound/volume.
I have discovered though that the beep for the rear ones seems to be coming from the back of the car (rather than the stereo), so I am wondering if the front ones have their own speaker somewhere?
Its a proper mystery that's driving my nuts 🤓

as mentioned the front parking sensor alert comes through sound system front speaker. When in reverse and parking activated if you turn up the volume on the radio I'm assuming the beeping still can't be heard (assuming here that you have something near the front sensor to set it off )
IDD tool will tell you if all the sensors are working correctly.Maybe front speaker blown? Stolen - D4 Loire Blue

Turned it right up and still nothing - I'll try running it up to the fence later and try again, just to make sure. I'll also try all the speakers, I believe they are all working but will check - any idea which one it might be?
The LR independant did say that there was a fault code on the IID for the stereo but he was reluctant to go 'digging' to find out what the fault related to, mainly because of cost to me to be fair.
Appreciate your help, thank you.

Did the earlier D4 have a separate front and rear sounder which wasn't adjustable ?
Was the later D4 with a different stereo, the one with adjustable sounds via the speaker?
Perhaps we are confusing things here with different model years.

With the rears sounding, if I adjust the sound via the stereo knob nothing changes (different for the nav), so does this indicate that mine has a separate sounder for the fronts? If so any idea where it is?
For clarity mine is an Oct 09 D4, so a very early car

I can check for sure when I get home, I am pretty sure though that my front parking sensors beep from somwhere within the dash board. Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂
