You never know, JLR might actually build something well in Slovakia! My Dad’s 2016 Skoda Octavia makes our 2016 Landmark look sick when it comes to build quality. JLR are going backwards not forwards over here. Our recently sold MY2010 HSE was far better put together than the 2016 Landmark that we’ve recently bought. If only I could turn the clock back!
My recent experiences of Jags isn’t much better. The original XF was a lovely thing, but the newest ones (and the XE and F-Pace) are so plasticky and poor quality compared to things like the BMW 520 that they need to do something - quickly. I have always been a huge supporter of ‘British’ industry, but alas that loyalty is being tested to the limit.

Disappointing news. No mention of the Defender either. So still having head v heart battle as to what to replace D4 with. Hopefully Project Grenadier will be built in the UK.

Really, really hacked off with this...…..had been quietly biding my time for the new hybrid D5 or even a one with the Ingenium 3Litre engines (when they arrive)……was even thinking of the Startech insert to soften the blow of the rear.....
Apparently the reason given is to create enough space while they upgrade Solihull to accommodate other types (electric etc.), so does anyone think some form of Discovery production might return in the future?
All opinions welcome...….Phil

Not sure I understand why this is old news........the previous position was that production was to be at both sites, my dealer had told me that the UK market would still be serviced by Solihull......was that not your understanding?

They said that the Slovakian plant would build the Discovery from the outset so that is old news ...this move just releases capacity at Solihull so it probably makes sense

Well, I wasn't going to buy a D5 anyway . . . . . A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Quite right, it was meant to be additional production.
Some individuals have been stringing the line that lots more Discoveries would be sold with additional production, but they are closing the line at Solihull and they are simply offshoring the whole lot. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
