Clarkson on the Velar, D5 and LR models.
Does he visit here? Taken from his Sunday Times article on the Velar a week ago:
Quote:
After this, things get really complicated, because you have the Discovery, which I think is for people who want their car to look as though it’s had a stroke, or those who hate their children. It really does have the most uncomfortable back seats I’ve experienced. And then there’s the Discovery Commercial, which is for people who don’t want any back seats at all, and the Discovery Sport, which is smaller than the normal Discovery and is for ... er, I have no idea.
He loved the exterior and interior of the Velar.

The Velar is the best LR I’ve owned. LR just need to get to grips with the software.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

For me it ticks all the boxes.
☑️ Has enough off road ability for my needs
☑️ Enough rear room for my needs
☑️ Boot space again fine for me
☑️ Looks great
☑️ Compared to other LRs it’s like driving a sports car
☑️ The D240 has enough grunt so not missing the 3.0 of the Disco, next time I may take the P300
An absolute joy to own, it hasn’t been perfect, sadly I’ve yet to have an LR that has.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Guys, the Velar has the looks, but you are seated much lower and one can hardly look over the hood..
The RRS seats higher, has a better loading capacity, drives more nimble and has real offroad capabilities..
The Velar is more the 'yummy-mummy' successor of the Evoque..
..ofcourse aal just my humble opinion.. ..not as famous as JC..

Needless to say I disagree
The Evoque isn’t a patch on the RRV, no doubt that will change come the new one. Personally, if I needed the extra space I would go back to the D5. Disco Sport I wouldn’t have one in a raffle.
I have the same view along the bonnet as in a RRS and the handling is far better because it’s lower. The Velar is a highly capable car both on and off road. The F-Pace under pinnings really benefit the car.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

If I ever come out of the D3 fold I reckon the RRS is the one I'd go for out of the current range.
I haven't driven one yet though.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Yup the RR F-Pace works for me. Jags on road dynamics and LRs off road know how works
This is my eyeline, with the drivers seat to the floor
Each to there own, the RR Range has a car for everyone, if only the LR range had the same. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
