Got whacked by a van today which smashed the wing mirror. Fortunately the housing only had a couple of internal plastic fittings snapped off, which I managed to replace with screws so from the outside it is perfect.
Can you buy the glass seperately and if so any idea how much. Other than that no damage to the car.

I fitted it at the dealer myself just in case. The thing to do is adjust the mirror fully down and then hook the new mirror at the top and push down, you hear a click and it's done. Amazingly it was a 30 second job.

Brave fellah!
Was that driver's side? Did it have the wise words etched in?
A 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

A
Yes it now says "Avoid Courier Van Drivers, they may be closer than they appear".
It is driver's side, but no text on it.

No - I was surprised when they opened the box for my UK nearside mirror, there was a UK driver's side mirror in it with the wise words thereon!
Thankfully, they had another nearside box, complete with wordless nearside mirror
PS - the words were BIGGER than on the US version - maybe they wash off... (LR prank?) 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Might be better:
"If this mirror is blank,
1. a BMW 3-series will soon overtake you and disappear off the slip road in front of you... &
2. there is a white van stuffed so close up your rear end that you cannot see him..." 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods
