Oil leaking from the rear n/s of my D4 ?
Hi There
Daft question time:
After a short 5 min drive I pulled up and noticed spots of clear(ish) fluid on the floor when I looked closer it looked like there was oil leaking from the rear n/s, I am not sure what it is or where it is coming from.
I have attached a pic to see if anyone can help me out before I make the dreaded call to a garage. I have put an arrow in the direction the leak is coming from.
Many thanks in advance

Looks like brake fluid, check the level in the reservoir which should confirm if it is. Better not to drive it til then in case its a gusher!!
Actually, having a closer look it might be fluid from the Diff, but check the brake reservoir just in case. If it turns out to be the Diff its likely to be a blocked breather.

Hi There
Thanks for your reply !
I am not sure where I check the brake fluid ?
what is coming out is yellow and oily. I have attached another pic, the fluid is coming from above the rubber housing..
Cheers

Front To rear Brake pipe could be leaking. Get that checked because if it blows out completely you will have no rear brakes.
The pipe is a regular mot failure point due to corrosion.

Lift bonnet, remove the drivers side large black plastic cover (couple of finger clips) and check the brake fluid reservior.

Hi All
I have checked the brake fluid reservoir and it is very low, also checked the fluid and it appears to be the same so can safely say that it we here the problem is.
Can I ask if this is a job for a local garage rather than a dealer ?
Thanks for all your comments, really helpful!

Not sure where you are in Manchester - but if south of the city, call Land Ranger 0161 474 0101, replaced my rear brake pipes for about £200 - £250 (cant recall actual price as had some other stuff done) - great Indy.

Don't get brake fluid on your paint else it will strip the paint.
