Seats out to deep clean?
I've an inclination to take the seats out so I can foam clean/steam the carpets in the Disco. I had mice in the car and I can't help thinking this might be a good idea to get rid of any last vestiges of their scent etc.
Any reason not to? Thinking of leaving the fronts and doing the rears mainly.
No particular issues to watch out for?
Cheers team!

Easy to take the middle row out, just watch the base metal bits on the wheel arch bit. Rear row a bit harder as heavy and they flex. If you are going to drive around with the car like that remember to put the bolts back in, those holes are through to the outside so not good if driven in the rain.

Only after you’ve hoovered mine, it’s still like that under the load deck.

How long did it take to remove them all? One man job?

Middle seats, yes, prob about 20 - 30 mins taking it slowly, getting the latch bar out and putting the bolts back. Rear, about the same but 2 person job, the seats are just too heavy and “wobbly”. ISTR I folded them in half and rotated them before taking them out, that worked better that taking them straight out. Middle row seats out first gives better access, one person to front & one to rear.
Oh, and just reminded me re your A pillar thingie. Should be able to sort that out Thurs/Fri, if I can get the “badge” off easily I could just post it to you?

I think i need to do this to my D3. The orevioys owner obviously had dogs in it, and inthink the only way i will get rid of the smell is a wet vax.

Do you need to get under the car to get the bolts back in, I haven't acquired axle stands etc yet? Cheers, hate to think what my carpet looks like under there after a decade.

No, the nut bit is in the body shell, no getting under the car for anything. They came out ok in my D4, but fitted them back with some copperslip stuff.

Superstar as always, thank you. Who needs Haynes when we have you? Pictures are better too.
DSL would NEVER be leading a discussion on cleaning. .
