Hi, I bought the Hawkeye total to go with my new to me D4. I had one for my D2 so just stuck with the brand as I hadnt heard of the IId.

I have already found out one of its shortcomings in that I couldnt enable my towing electrics. Though its been fine for a couple of other fualt codes and seems to cover all of the stuff that I am likley to need as a home mechanic.

The IId seems to be a tool that can let you enable/disable and fiddle with systems which is a bit above my capabilities and worry scale. Also it appears (and someone can correct me) that a lot of its functions are VIN locked where as the Hawkeye isn't. A minor consideration I would think.

I paid £274 for mine and the other tool seems to be up at £410 so I guess its ultimately down to the cost and what you are likley to use it for.

You can go onto the Bearmach web site and down load a pdf with all of its applications for each Land Rover model. It also comes with free updates as they develop the software. Maybe you can do the same for the IId tool? I havent looked.

All that said if I was setting out to buy a new tool now I would likley shell out the extra £140 and go for the IId based on how useful it is to the people on here.
Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

Picked up the D3 last night... kinda begged it, or rather to be honest offered them a pittance and the accepted, but its got issues already with an EAS fault and thinking a front bag is on its way out... but I have sorned it to give me some time to tinker and sort some of the issues... The Joys of Landy ownership...
