[For Sale] Cast Iron Bath
Any interest in a large cast iron bath removed in recent renovation. Needs re-enamelled but otherwise intact. The only snag is that it is in the very north of Skye and probably won't fit in a Disco! Horsebox or equivalent might be best. It is also inordinately heavy! If we were nearer civilisation it would be a easy disposal to an architectural salvage place but up here there is less demand. Might best suit someone doing a renovation to a place in the north of Scotland who wants period features - I'd say Original Equipment, but when this house was built a bath was a removable item in front of the fire! This one predates the last restoration 20 yrs ago. Cost £25 (so SWIMBO tells me) but I think she is just trying to prevent someone taking it for the scrap value.
PM me if any interest.

I gave one away to a local school pupil who was raising funds for an African school. In was funny seeing his father and him try to fit it in the back of XC90. Half of it was hanging out. The truth I’d have given them money to take it away.

Should have said that I could probably take it somewhere in the horsebox if it is in reasonable travelling distance. Or take it to someone who could take it ....etc You get the picture.
Local solution to these - take a sledge hammer to them, break them into bits then they are easy to get rid of.....
Trying to avoid this option

Put some ear plugs in before hitting it with a sledge hammer, its like ringing a bell. And some eye protection as enamel chips shoot off everywhere when you hit it.

Its not going to happen. Even if I have to bring it down to a salvage yard in Glasgow next time I'm down.
However I suppose I could turn it into a very large wind chime.......

If you can get it cut in half lengthways you have 2 garden seats which, in time, will go rusty. Then you have 2 giant flowerpots! Friend did it and painted them and it looked quite good.

The one I smashed up was almost lime green, that room was being “redesigned” and there was no way the two of us would have gotten it down the stairs. Was prob the noisiest piece of demolition we did.

Na, if the bath was heavy enough and going fast enough.... it would keep going straight on
