EGR Fault, Fuel pressure fault - ££££'s - Help |
|
My Disco3, which had a new engine 50k miles ago, has recently gone into limp mode on motorways journeys. Locally its fine - and most of the time on long journeys its fine - but it played up this weekend to the point it came home on a truck.....
The garage have plugged it in and say I need new EGR valves (£776) to fix that fault. They cant be blocked of as the engine is EU4?
The fuel filter was replaced in Feb. So next step is to check the fuel injectors - (£555). If the check says they need replacing its £2027 for new ones! If they don't need replacing then the fuel pump needs replacing which is £1355.
So BEST case, I'm in for around £2,700 to fix an intermittent fault.
The car has done 190k miles. It's immaculate and had everything (else) done to it.
ANY advice? (I did change the brake lights)

Check the low pressure fuel pump. I’ve changed a few recently. Mine died at the weekend funnily enough. 194k here.

Thanks. they suggested that's the fix if its not the injectors- which they can test before fixing. £1355 for a fuel pump sound about right? that's fitted.

Fuel Injector cleaner to fix fuel pressure fault |
|
So now discovered the EGR were blocked off by BODSY (If you are out there let me know) but the mechanics didn't spot it- so definitely a fuel pressure issue.
Has anyone had success with the Injector cleaners? Ive put some fluid in but note there are companies out there who can plug you in and clean them. worth a try before taking them all out for an inspection/test which I'm quoted £555 to do.
it went into limp mode three times this morning on a 20 min drive....im running out of the cheap options...!!

Bubsy- thanks. fault codes are Injector Control Pressure too low (P2290-00) and Both EGR (P140A-00).
The EGR one is a red herring I think. chat later.

That’s the high pressure. Not the intank one. Hey can check that really easily before firing up the parts cannon at it.

Have tha same on D3 TDV6 MY 2008
EGRs are blanked with patches from Bells.
But get P140A-00. Cannot clear this with GAP IID.
Some times get P2290 and limp mode.
Cannot understand how P140A code appears when EGRs are blanked and cannot be cleared.
This can be a problem when doing my Swedish MOT test.
