[Swap] Detachable for a Fixed Tow Bar |
|
Before I look at buying a LR fixed tow bar, is anyone interested in a direct swap from a LR fixed bar to a LR detachable? To clarify I have the detachable and want a fixed.
I know it’s a long shot, especially with the press on the detachable at the moment, but mine has been checked and is all OK. I swapped with a forum member on my old D3 - as he only did occasional towing and wanted to keep the rear clear for ground clearance.

I can't swap but I am after a detachable bar. If you sell please let me know a price. Thanks. De-tangoed headlights, sprayed black!
Smoked rear lights, grill, vent and side steps.
Black wrapped roof and sun screen!
Land Rover raised air intake
LED off road light
And the famous DISCO sticker!

The discovery is off the road at the moment so will struggle with that, if u find no others and want a road trip I can happily remove it before hand

I've just made my removable tow hook into a permanent one !!
I've fixed one of those anti theft brackets on and used allen key headed bolts, only a little bit of a nuisance to a dedicated thief but enough to make them think twice.
I have a full size spare wheel so that makes it a little more difficult for anybody, including me, to remove the nuts from behind.

Hi Beretta,
I’m joining the D3 clan on Wednesday when I pick up ours. It has a fixed towbar which my wife and I hate the look of. As we’ll only tow infrequently at best, I could be up for the swap. I need to work
Out how to remove it (can’t be too hard) but can then arrange to meet to swap? Drop me a PM.
Cheers
Paul

Hi EMcC, can you tell me where you got your anti theft bracket as I'm after one
Cheers

Dean, I got mine from flea bay cost £28 including postage only took three days to arrive.
There used to be a guy on here selling them for about the same price +postage, you may be lucky if you do a search.
Bought the nuts and bolts separately as I wanted round head with Allen key slot. My thinking is that it would make a would be thief think twice before attempting to remove them.
With a full size spare wheel the nuts at the back are difficult to get at.

For some reason I haven’t been getting notifications about replies to this, I have sent you a PM Paul if you’re still interested

Cheeky Thursday bump...
If no one want to do a swap, I will sell my detachable bar, including the storage compartment, and the red plug for use when its removed.
