D3 Galvanised Chassis?
Just wondering if such a thing exists?
Chassis corossion does not appear to be the vehicle killer it was on the D1/D2... however i see quite a few mentions of doing some secondary chassis work when the body is off for a primary reason.1 TR6 Rusting away quietly

Great minds..
I didnt know that.. unless you mentioned it and it went into my subconcious where it has been rattling around for the last few weeks...
My thought was prompted as one of the locals here has just built (from scratch) a heavy duty replacement for his D2. As he said its a great vehicle.. just sitting on a rotting chassis. He got it dipped at a place in Cumbernauld.. it looks like a great job 1 TR6 Rusting away quietly

Guessing this is a major peace of work to get chassis dipped What would people suggest for cleaning then coating a chassis with whilst on the vehicle?

I used the Corroless 2k protection paint with rust inhibiter.
As well as the VCI wax for internal chassis and body.

Well I can tell you from first hand experience Morris Ankor wax is pretty good, but now getting a bit dear for what it is.
The last couple of years Ive used generic cheapo chassis wax from ebay mixed with about 10 percent new engine oil, seems to last quite well.
Theres many many different waxes/systems out there Bilt Hamber is meant to be good
If diying you will need approx 15 litres the first year, then 5 litres or so every time you redo it, annually is best but can stretch to two years.
Pros Im sure do a good job, but its bloody expensive.
Diy, compressor/airline/wax gun/wax plus overalls/large tarp etc will still come in way under a pros price, plus touches up only cost the 5 litres of wax.
Its a fast/easy/messy job that many people are scared of.

Yes did it when replacing the eng8ne.
The chassis is far far bigger than you think and needs a lot of time.
We needle gun’d the loose surface rust, use a sander for bits that just needed clearing up a little more, then coated it in the 2 pack paint. That stuff is thick and sets well.
The vci went on easily with a spray and yo7 can see the clear shiny areas that are covered. The vci should last 4 years before needing a re coat.Bodsys Brake Bible

Its about 3 full days to lift the body off, and strip everything back to a bare chassis
Been quoted £600 to shotblast the chassis, same again to have Galv'ed
Then a full week to rebuild again, at a guesstimate
Plus whatever worn bits need replacing while its all apart
Plus cleaning + protecting the underside of the body

Mikey, I'm guessing you might need a few hours to go round with an 8mm drill for several strategic vent/drain holes before going for galv?
