Thanks Adam
Is there anything that explains the differences between the models?

I don't think there is a definitive date between SDV6 and TDV6 - seems to have been down to what letters LR had in the scrabble bag
I know when I got my D4 I was trying to figure out the differences and I seem to remember reading a post that said more-or-less the above.
MY2012 was when the rotary gear change nob came in replacing the lever gear change.Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector
Limo Tint
Blackvue front & rear dashcam
Cruise control switch pack
Bodsy's remote for FBH
The very first D4s were TDV6 but same power as SDV6 and without DPF (unless you spec’d it on the order) but marked TDV6, then July 2010 DPF became standard and caused a power reduction, still TDV6.
I think it was 2012 they brought out the uprated power version, which was badged SDV6.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

And on slightly later SDV6’s, the 8 speed Auto Box with the rotary knob
Power difference marginal at c. 12bhp I believe

Sure this is on a thread somewhere that I cannot find so here goes a brief summary of models IIRC (I'm going to ignore the 2.7 and commercials for now )
GS - Cloth Seats
XS - GS + Heated Leather Seats, Sat Nav, Front Fogs, Auto Lights, not sure when dab became std?
HSE- XS + Rear Heated Seats, Softer leather, Sunroof, better stereo, more infotainment options such as voice control, Seat memory

Thanks all..........including the Ford driver
So power wise I guess it's better to look for an 09, 59 or 12 onwards plate?
Is there any spec related issues to look out for, as in HSE has leaking sun roofs and rear air con leaking?
Also is there any advantage in the SDV6 over the TDV6 if they are both the same power?

They are the same engines so no difference.
If you dont want a DPF, you generally need to find a car that’s labelled 3.0 TDV6. If it’s SDV6 around 2011/2012 with 6 speed, it will be the same as earlier versions, but with a DPF.
All 3.0 TDV6/SDV6 had same power from 59 plate until 2012 when they swapped to the 8 speed. That’s when the power increase came. Before that, they are all around 245hp
You can check if car has DPF by looking at the VIN.

So for example this one would be the more powerful?

That would be the same as any 3.0l from 2009 - 2012 before the power increase and 8 speed came in in 2012.
There was potentially a lower hp 3.0l, but it was only in commercials or other countries.
More powerful than the 2.7

How does £14k look for that specific one? Just had new compressor and inlet manifold.

My 2014 MY SDV6 has 255bhp. It is XS and has heated seats, DAB, front fogs and rotary change with 8 speed box. Some already stated above.2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.
Hopefully it's had a belt change; I would have replaced the oil pump by now, but that's not in the service schedule.
