High Pressure Injector pump failure |
|
New and proud owner of 2008 D3 with 125k. A few months in an noticed surging at low revs. Brought it to reputable local LR specialist. They ran diagnostics in garage and also brought out on test drive with diagnostics and fuel pump pressure measuring device. They have seen this before and are certain it is the high pressure injector pump. They are definite it is not a gearbox or torque converter problem.
Here's the kicker - £1750 all in to fix it. The pump alone is £1400 odd inc VAT!
What would people suggest? I am tempted to get a second opinion as the fix cost is very high. In all the car I have owned over 30 years, I have never had a repair bill that size!
Is it madness to fit a second hand pump given the age and mileage of the car? Does that price seem fair?
Any thoughts and suggestions greatly appreciated. The wife is going to have a field day with this as she didn't want me to get the D3 in the first place!!
