Hi. I’ve just bought a 2.7 hse 08 plate. It’s got sat nav and radio with 6 cds. I’ve only had it a week and noticed that the lights that illuminate the buttons on the radio don’t work, so you can’t see the buttons when it’s dark. Can this be fixed or is it head unit in the bin and buy a new one?

The radio must receive illumination command across the network.
So the headunit at fault sounds likely.
If you have a low spec model you may wish to consider aftermarket headunit with Bluetooth reversing camera music stream.
