Pre heat sets off the alarm.
I have enabled the pre heat on my Discovery 4. It works great BUT when it comes on it sets off the car alarm. Is there something I missed when I enabled it or is there some setting I should account for when arming the alarm?Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

I guess that its possible, maybe it has a high load on start up and the alarm is sensing a voltage drop.
I dont think the battery is overly low as the Preheat runs as it should, fan runs in car, lasts 30' and car is warm. Toasty actually.
I could try starting it with the ctech attached, see what that does.

Probably won't help unless your Ctek is one of the higher spec models that have a supply feature.
Does sound like your battery's mullered though.Mods:

perhaps see if you can borrow a known decent battery, fit it and fire up the FBH to see what happens?formerly Disco3Ben

Charge
I have a ctech with the supply mode, so I will give it a charge then leave it on supply and see what happens. ThanksDiscovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

Pre heat
Just an update, I charged the battery up and ran the preheat. It works without the alarm now so it was a low battery. Thanks for top tips.Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

Think my main battery is goosed - FBH stopped working this morning as the battery dropped too low.
had to jump start the main battery via the split charge aux battery.
it's not fully charging up, even after 8 hours on the motorway at the weekend.
What battery did you go for? and from where?
Many thanks formerly Disco3Ben

I didnt change the battery. I pit the reconditioning mode on my CTech charger. My friend is coming over at the weekend to use his battery tester on it.Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

how did you get on?
I just fitted this battery - thought it was worth it for £132 from Halfords with a 5 year warranty and fingers crossed it confirms the original battery was on the way out.

Heater
Hi there, my friend tested the battery, I reacharged it a week or so ago. Been driving it and it tested as 92% charged and in OK condition so I guess it was just down to lack of use and a heavy drain from all the onboard gizmos. Battery looks good value actually.Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

Texted the Altox this morning - came back with error dtetday, having initially fired up.
Hoping this was due to battery disconnect yesterday I rest via the app and cleared all errors via the iiD.
Relieved to say that it fired up and ran through the cycle
importantly the car started strongly after the FBH had run - so big improvement from before and looks like the new battery has done the trick.
Just need to wait to see if it continues to work as it should and the battery continues to fully charge.formerly Disco3Ben
