Low range light-flashing green, HDC Not Available etc. |
|
Hi everyone
I've posted a couple of times and people have been very generous on replying to me quickly.
I wanted to re-post my question as I've firmed up some things.
I’m getting an intermittent problem withour Discovery 3 and my partner thinks we should scrap the car.
When driving, I randomly get "Range Change Not Available" and the dreaded Bong!
When I stop the car and turn the ignition off and on I then get the following on the dash, this happens with just the ignition on, not just the engine on:
On turning on the ignition the following lights appear immediately on the dash:
1. Low range light-flashing green (the one that looks like a mountain)
2. DSC - solid amber
3. BRAKE- solid amber
4. With the messages: SYSTEM FAULT SPECIAL PROGRAMS NOT AVAILABLE HDC FAULT SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE SPECIAL PROGRAMS OFF Also, the range selector in the center flashes
5. The Suspension lifts but I can't choose low or high height, it's just normal height
No matter what I do, disconnect and reconnect the power etc. The lights / problems come on as soon as turn on the ignition and won’t stop.
The only way I can clear the messages and errors is to do an ECU reset.
I did this last week and the car behaved perfectly for about 4 days, then all of a sudden, whilst driving, Bong! and the above happened and turning the car off and on doens't clear it until I do an ECU reset.
I've recently had the following work done:
1. New front suspension wishbones
2. Replacement Suspension ECU
3. Replacement Transmission ECU
4. 2 New Drivers side ride height sensors
5. New Airbag unit rear drivers side
6. New Battery
7. New Denso alternator
8. New Brake Light Switch
9. 4 wheel alignment
10. Steering Angle Sensor alignment
I have no idea why I'm now getting this intermiitent problem detailed above but would really really appreciate your collective knowledge or advice.
Thank you everyone

If you are performing an “ecu reset” does this mean you have an IIDtool?
If so, what’s it saying for errors?
If not, and you want to keep the car, sounds like you need to get one.

Thanks for the reply
Interestingly, I took the battery out today and checked the replacement ECU. It wasn’t clipped onto to its mounts and was flopping around in the casing behind the battery and I wonder if it’s was that causing the problem.
I did have an Autel 519 but it only does standard OBD codes. I bought a Car Doctor as well, https://incardoc.com/en-us/about/#features-label but that’s basic too.
Will see if now it’s clipped on to it’s mountings and secure, whether the problems return.
