have any of you folks gone for accessories after you got your D5, specifically things like side steps, towbar/tow elecrics, roof rails?
If so - any good/where from?
I might have to take the plunge as much as I like the look of an F Pace not sure its heavy enough for towing my T/A 'van (coming in at 92% of the car's weight and I'd like a bit more of a gap than that - OK, been spoilt with D3 & D4)

Probably best to ask on the D5 forum?
I bought my steps from sidesteps.co.uk and fitted them myself.

I had a genuine LR towbar for the D5 fitted by a main dealer. I shopped round, the cost was £700 odd including parts. Beware some dealers wanted £1,200 plus.
Haven’t taken the plunge with Side Steps. The LR ones are fine, but for an all black car, I quite like the matching www.sidesteps.co.uk They have an excellent write up on the D5 site. A lot of peps fitting them. Think they are roughly £440 delivered.

Fitting the towbar on a D5 is a lot more involved than it is on a D3 or D4. It is significantly cheaper to order it when the car is built than to fit one later.
Likewise, the roof rails are best fitted at the factory, there seem to be some extra bits that you need to fit them that add to the cost and are difficult to obtain. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

I have side steps supplied by a third party, will check what make later if you want info.
The price is very very good compared with LR from memory around £150 the quality seems very good but the brackets do flex a bit. I am happy with them as they do what they are supposed to and make life easier for wife to get in car especially when suspension is up.
With regards to tow bar, I went for one from LR, detachable and have been very pleased with it. There is a lotto fitting it as the whole rear cross member is removed and the tow bar replaces it but it would not be a hard job to do for someone who is semi competant with spanners MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

so pulled the trigger on a 2ltr Corris Grey HSE with black pack and dynamic pack
What have I done
Anyway, important stuff - does anybody have the fitting instructions for the long roof rails. I want to see how easy they are to fit before I buy any or ask the the dealer to fit (as they are having enough out of my wallet as it is )

Sad to hear you're leaving D3/4 ownership, but I hope you enjoy the D5 and it suits you as well as your previous Disco's
Out of interest, what was your rationale for getting rid of the D4 now? When is it 3yrs old?
I'm still totally undecided what to do with my D4 and if I do replace it, what with. Although a used MY17 FFRR with the SDV8 is on my mind, then see what the new Defender looks like.
Alternatively I keep the D4 for longer, or buy something totally different for work mileage and have an older 4X4 for field sports use and skip duty etc.
D5 isn't an option for me, as I can't get comfy in it for starters. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

If your D4 does everything you want then why change it? Keep it and enjoy it. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

there's nothing wrong with my D4, its a great car, done 42k miles, was 3yrs old end of Oct, and still wasnt really sure about the D5. The end still doesnt still too well with me, but I aint planning on looking at the back that much, as the veiw from the drivers seat is a nice place to be when compared to the D4. The black pack improves the rear fractionally (ok not much).
But I decided after 2 D3's and 2 D4's I fancied something a little more up to date (just as I did when moving from a TD5 to the first D3, and I wasnt sure about the D3 when it first came out), and got a deal I was happy to take on this D5 HSE, so here goes.
Happy to take 27.5k for my D4 if anyone wants it - there isnt a mark on it

I'm 'holding off' - waiting for the new "Defender' - if it ever arrives..... looks more D4'ish and much more to my style - a bit like the 'G Wagon". Mind you - by the time it arrives I may not be allowed to drive anymore - oh the joys of getting too old... 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

That’s a possible option for sure. Mileage, resale value and warranty are key considerations though. I do c.25k miles pa which hits the value. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
