Which EGR valve do I need?
Hi all, i own a 2009 TDV6 and I’ve been diagnosed with a faulty EGR valve. A friend, who’s a mechanic and someone I really trust, has recommended that I change both and use genuine parts as the after market ones don’t last as long. Which ones do I need for an 09 D3? Do I need the EGR Valve - LR018466 - Genuine or the EGR Valve - LR018323 - Genuine
I know that after 07 you can’t blank them off without getting engine lights on.
Thanks in advance
Pete
If it was me I would get them blanked and do the software patch instead of changing the valves.

Thanks for the reply Flack, I’m going to go with my mate (no disrespect intended) but I know he would have suggested it had he thought it was the best option. I just need to find out which ones to get.

I can't see the point in changing both sides, there is no labour saving.
It saves the when the wrong one gets changed and the other requires changing.

Negotiate a discount and buy 4. You’ll be needing them soon anyway
50,000 miles since mine were blanked and patch added (by Flack) at less cost than the price of a couple of valves.

Get them blanked and patched - or else you will be going through the same process again soon.
if you are going to buy EGRs buy cheap ones and use them as the emulators - years ago my EGRs failed before emulators were invented and I plugged the new EGRs into the curcuit but not installed - no issues.
7 years later and 120,000km, I have my engine is still blanked and the new EGRs live in the battery box connected to the wiring loom by a wiring extension and my original dead EGRs are still on the exhaust - the good EGRs act like modern emulators.
I only have this arrangement as I did it years ago before modern systems were available - if I did it now I would blank and get the patch or emulators. You mate probably did not suggest it as he does not know about the options. I am sure your mate would prefer to do this rather than getting lots of skinned knuckles changing the EGRs - also if your old EGRs are closed, you do not even need to have the engine blanked as the patch will keep them closed.

I took everyone’s advice and I’ve had them blanked and patched! All seems to be going well and I’ve definitely noticed a difference! I’ve got power all the time instead of most of the time
Thanks for the help folks
