|
Hi everyone,
My Disco3 has just failed it's MOT on the offside front to rear brake pipe. Has anyone had experience of fitting one of these?
Thanks

When I had my range rover, i needed new brake pipes on that, I went to the trouble of buying the pipes from landrover, but then my indi said he'd rather use copper as its easier.
I don't know how hard it is on the disco.

Plenty have done it, most join the pipe under the passengers front seat area. They are a pig with the body on apparently. You will need a serious flaring tool to do the join as the original pipes are steel. Jarrod
Current : D3 2007 HSE - AKA the lemon
-beanie grille
-detango with led bulbs
-club body off rebuild. TWICE.

Are you supposed to join them?

You can buy them from landrover in rear half’s. I did that and then ended up running new front half’s in copper up to the connector on the bulkhead. I did mine with the body off which was easy. Jarrod

Looks like I'll be taking it to a dealer. Thanks

An independent specialist or garage should be able to do it using the LR part. Don’t get stitched up by dealer pricing for this job. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I'm just about to take it to a local independent dealer for an estimate so fingers crossed. Thanks

No probs. Like Martin has said I wouldn’t step foot in a dealer personally. Definately at best for me would be an Indy. Looking at the pics I’ve got the rears could be done easily enough in copper and routed somewhere near accurate.
Edit: if one is too far gone you can bet the other isn’t far behind. Iirc the pipes from landrover were very reasonable priced. Site sponsor advanced factors lists them. Jarrod

Just got back from the garage. It took them an age to find the pipe and then they said they couldn't do it. Back to the drawing board.
Thanks again for the help

Yes you can Join them.
Have a look where it’s bad and how much it’s sensible to replace

No offence but if they took an age to find a brake line under the car I wouldn’t want them near mine anyway. Jarrod

think I paid something like £60 to have both my rear pipes cut and spliced under the pass seat back,as already said though you need a decent flaring tool to be able to do the steel pipes other than being a bit awkward its not a big job just find the right person
don't know how old yours is but I also did the pipes on the rear lower arms (£8 eachish from l/r) and the flexi pipes and don't forget to get a few pipe clips as they break when you try to remove the pipes please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick, thankyou
