options for Android integration |
|
I am wondering what options I have (if any) to integrate my android phone (Samsung Galaxy) to my D3, which has the HK 6 cd changer unit
I really dont want to replace the head unit for a touch screen with animated blue dolphins, I actually like the utilitarian look of the original unit.
But I havent seen a CD in about 15 years, so I want some solution to listen to my podcasts and music.
I understand the BT module doesnt support audio streaming which is a pain. So is there any after market device or upgrade I can get which will allow me to integrate my phone and play audio whilst keeping all other existing functionality (inc NAV) in play?
thanks

Think the cheapest option for music is to buy a 3.5mm Jack to Jack cable and use the Aux port at the back of the cubby box. There are several threads about adding a front Aux port too. Then use the Bt for calls. This is what i'm doing anyway. 08 D3 TDV6 SE

I've been using a Sony RM X7BT for a while now and am happy with it.
It allows me to use Google Assistant (or Siri I believe) or it's own 'assistant' for voice control such as making calls, reading / sending texts and telling it what music (artists etc) to play from your nominated app (e.g. Spotify).
The spec is here : https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/smartph...er/rm-x7bt I see no ships........

Those look interesting.
Is it possible to ignore the phone call bit I wonder. I'm happy to keep my phone connected to the OEM unit (and steering wheel controls) for calls
I just want audio streaming

IIRC you can nominate (or not) which apps you allow - so could possibly not have the phone.
There's a user guide in PDF on the Sony site.
I must admit I use mine 99.9% of the time for Spotify and occasionally to have it read out text messages I receive on the road or to call up 'Maps'.
Be aware if you've a passenger in the car while listening to music - my wife thinks it's great fun to tell it to 'Play Spotify Best of Phil Collins' - and there's neverbeen a best of him...... I see no ships........

Just looked at the spec, I want one but they are now discontinued and can't find one anywhere online
