Battery ...Haven’t got a clue, Help needed.

Can I run a power cable from the 2nd battery to the starter to jump start the car?
Cars sat outside the house for 10 days so this morning started 1st time and I took it for a spin for about an hour and everything running perfect. Parked up for about 30min then went out again and within 5 minutes from the house a suspension fault came on then a transmission fault then everything pinging and flashing. Pulled over and switched off, now it won’t start and I can’t even read the faults because the battery is flat and I can’t even move the gear stick. It’s an auto. Cheers for any advice Thumbs Up

yes, you can jump start it.

What it probably needs to putting on a charger to get it back upto 100%.

We like the CTEK 5A charger on here. ~£65 off ebay

But, if it started to fail with the engine running ....

Would it not be wise to disconnect the batteries ASAP until alternator ‘dead short’ has been excluded?

If there is a dead short, risk damaging the battery/batteries if left connected from what I’ve read.

You could jump start it, disconect the leads as soon as started.

If the battery light is on, or if the car stalls straight away then the alternator has problems.

Seeing as the car has been stood for 10 days I would suspect the battery just isn't charged yet.

But you could be correct in that the stress on the alternator has killed it.

Either way, leaving a drained battery hooked up isn't a good idea. Get it disconnected and on charge if you have a charger. or go any buy one

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

That’s the next thing, told him just to charge the knackered one because the one I’ll get will be a hell of a lot cheaper Thumbs Up

(Thanks Steve Norman for the recommendation) Seem to last about five years in a D3 with lots of short trips, heated windscreen etc..
