Obtaining service paperwork when using pre-paid service plan |
|
I wondered of anyone who also purchased the EBAC service plan when they purchased their car new (I paid £699 for 5 years) gets on when they receive their paperwork following the service?
I only get the checklist and a sheet telling me the service has been carried out and what I need (for my records and for my extended warranty) is a detailed list of the parts/oil spec used when the car was serviced. These details only seem to be included in the invoice for the service, which, because I am not paying, the dealership (and LR customer services) inform me I am not entitled to.
I understand that the invoice is not issued to me and perhaps the prices on it are sensitive, but I struggle to see why my pre-payment for this service means I don't get what I think is important information about what has been done to my car and believe I must be entitled to receive these details.
Interested in others' experiences and ways of obtaining these details before I escalate.
Cheers Gary

That’s all I’ve had as well, with a sheet saying they’re done one of these health check videos and tyre depths.
Also, at 20,000 miles that my discs are lipped and will need new discs and pads............ tons of life left on pads, and should you really need new discs before a set of pads wear out? Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I may well be wrong, but I understood that records are now kept on-line, and one merely has to ask a JLR dealer for a print out of everything relating to you car.

Thanks for the replies. Yes got access to my online service history but no records or parts used on the car and critically no mention of which oil used. Service invoice (which I’m not allowed) has all of that.

Gary - Interesting
Mine lists parts used on the car:-
Quote:Scheduled Service Completed
32,000 miles/ 24 months service
Related Service Items
Renewal of Oil and Oil Filter
Renewal of Pollen Filter
Renewal of Engine Air Filter
Renewal of Fuel Filter
Renewal of Alarm Handset Batteries
but as you correctly say doesn't identify specific type of oil. It must, I hope, be safe to assume that JRL approved & specified products are used. Surely you could ask the dealer for confirmation?

I have always been given copies of the invoice by the dealer each time the car had its "free" service as paid for in the service plan.
Perhaps it depends on the dealership?

If it’s a main dealer I would hope it’s always genuine and approved materials, if not they shouldn’t be a main dealer.
They always specifically mention if I haven’t got genuine discs or pads, even if brand new and point blank refused to fit an engine unless it was LR new. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Thanks again all.
NJSS I haven’t spotted the parts used in the online service details so if you could point me to where to find these that would be great.
In terms of oil, yes I trust LR dealership to use the right oil, unfortunately Warranty Direct do not. They need documented details of the oil spec used ( and this is also useful for personal records) in the service records which they expect to receive in the event of any claim. I don’t want to be hamstrung by not having this if my engine goes bang.
I’ve asked for the details from the dealership, and I’m always told it’s on the invoice and we are not supposed to give it to you.
Guess I’ll push harder for a copy, whatever they give me will need to be formal paperwork to satisfy WD.
Cheers Gary

If my recent experience with a main dealer is anything to go by, if they haven't provided you with any paperwork, it probably means they haven't even touched the vehicle, just told you they have.

Hi NJSS
I've checked my online service history again and checked the tab you indicated "Servicing history" again and all I have is :
Service Completed
48000 miles / 36 months service
Other Related Items
Presume this is the same as you, although you mention your screen uses the term "Related service items" which is different to mine. Anyway, I've used two different dealers for my services in Kent and neither has entered any of the detail where as yours has.
Appreciate you taking time to help.
Cheers Gary
